Cutting in the new floor color. This is a pale green color. The paint is an acrylic latex concrete and porch paint. We were told by the hardware store owner it's extremely hard paint when dry. I have to say I've dropped a few wrenches and putty knife with no chips.

The first set of cabinets in place. These will be backed up with another set of Hamilton cabinets to create a composing room sort of space. Eventually the tops of these two cabinets will be replaces with one large imposing stone.

Just about complete. This is the composing portion of the studio. I still have to add the galley cabinet and strip material cabinet. They will go at the end of the cases in the middle of the room. The tops to the cases against the wall will be replaced with a large imposing stone. There's a total of 60 full sized type cases as well as 36 3/4 cases. Should make for a nice collection of type and cuts. The Hohner B sits on top of the 12 case cabinet.

Well here's what we ended up with after day one of dismantling the press. I was unable to get the flywheel key out. I called John Barett from Letterpress Things for some advise. He said to email Mike Anton from Golding in St. Louis. I'm currently waiting his reply. Despite the set back we moved on and removed what we could. The motor and mount. The ink disk and ink fountain mount. The bar that connects the harps, or roller keepers, and the link to the gear. We also loosened the dog bones connecting the platen to the harps, but we'll wait until the flywheel is off to take them off completely.

Here's the best setup I could manage aside from building a custom puller. Mike Anton from Golding in St. Louis suggest removing the flywheel this way after I contacted him. I tried for the good portion of a day to remove the key with no luck. I'm a little concerned I could snap the spokes on the wheel as it was not possible to get a hold on the inside edge of the hub. I plan to go very slow and careful. First sign I'm trying to hard I'm stopping. Can't exactly run to Grainger's and get a new flywheel.

It's moving!!! Actually I'm surprised at how easily it's coming off. It's taking very little pressure to turn the puller after the initial for turns. The wheel is sliding over the key. Thanks Mike Anton from Golding division St. Lois.

Here's a shot of the "gunk" that was under the flywheel key. While a good portion of it is oil and penertating fluid some of it must have been ink that was keeping the key from coming out.

We tilted the press carefully and places a 2x4 under one set of legs. We then bolted it to the 2x4 for fear of it sliding off when we lifted the other side.

Finished front side of card. This last printing pass added the "!" in a stanard Pantone Red. This card was printed with 2 standard Pantone inks and 3 custom mixed inks. The stock is Stratmore Ultimate White Wove 100# Cover. All the characters are wood cuts. The printing was done on a 1970s Honer B lever press.

2008 Christmas Card first pass printing 185 red in 48pt Brush script. This type is actually worse for wear. Ther'es a lot of damage and the bottom edges are smashed pretty well. However it's one of the last lines of type the composer at the shop I work for set so I used it regardless of quality for sentimental reasons and will most likely continue to until it no longer prints.
